About Dr. Betts 
Dr. J Gordon Betts D.O., a certified Physician and Surgeon for thirty years has been practicing cosmetic care treatments for over twenty-six years! As a student of Ophthalmology, he has been using laser technology for more than twenty five years. In the late 1990’s, with eighteen years of laser technology experience, it was a natural transition for Dr. Betts to practice cosmetic skin care, as the use of lasers became more and more common in treating different skin issues. His experience and patience is the cornerstone of the level of service you receive when visiting St. Luke’s Cosmetic Center. As a surgeon, Dr. Betts decided to focus on non-evasive skin treatments that produced better results with little or no pain and no down time. His desire to help patients with a non-surgical approach to skin care and utilize his years of experience with laser technology helped start the St. Luke’s Cosmetic Center in Clackamas, Oregon in 1980.
Dr. Betts was educated at the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Bio Chemistry and continued his educational path at the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in the 1960’s. With one year of internship and three years of residency; he continued his training in Kansas City at the Heart of America Eye Foundation. With 26 years of education, Dr. Betts started his own practice in the Portland Metro Area as an Ophthalmologist with an emphasis on minor surgical prceedures of the face and body.
Dr. Betts is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with licenses to practice in both Oregon and Washington State. He is also a member of the American Society for Laser, Medicine and Surgery.
When Dr. Betts is not treating patients around the Portland Metro area, he enjoys running. Having participated in marathon runs in both Chicago and Portland; he enjoys staying healthy by running three to four days a week. For further enjoyment he is an avid wine taster and is currently working with local wineries to discern the difference in wine tastes when using alternative methods of bottling. Dr. Betts is happily married with grown children living in the Portland Metro area and has been a Rotary Club member for twenty eight years. He is also a member of the American Diabetic Association, Knights of Columbus and many other mentoring programs.
